Fans of Coco Pops Rocks cereal took to Twitter recently to ask why it hadn’t been seen in supermarkets as of recently, and much to their dismay, a spokesperson from Kellogg’s announced the product had been discontinued.

But it isn’t the first time the nation has felt similar heartbreak. From Milky Way Crispy Rolls to Calippo Shots, Tom Church, shopping expert at LatestDeals.co.uk, has used data to create a list of some of Britain’s favourite discontinued snacks that you may have forgotten about.

Tooty Frootie

Without warning, one of the nation’s favourite sweets was discontinued in 2019. After much speculation as to why, a spokesperson from Nestle said the reasoning was because Tooty Frooties just weren’t as popular as they once were.

And although fans of the sweets have been fighting for their return, it doesn’t look like we will be seeing them back on our shelves anytime soon.

Oddities

To make way for new products like the Mini Cheddars variants and other Jacobs products, the company decided to bid farewell to oddities in 2017. A company representative claimed that the well-liked school lunch snack was eliminated in order to meet customer demand and stay up to date with industry trends.

Callippo Shots

The frozen treat made up of lemon and strawberry-flavoured ice balls was discontinued in 2020 with no reason as to why. The summer ice cream staple was missed so much that fans tried to start an official government petition, but the attempt was unsuccessful.

Milky Way Crispy Rolls

The distinctive creamy filling-filled wafer-thin rolls were a long-time favourite among consumers before Mars phased them out in the UK in 2022. As sales of the chocolate bar began to decline over the years, the company made the difficult decision to discontinue them.

Although Crispy Rolls haven’t been seen in supermarkets since 2022, eagle-eyed fans have spotted their return in certain Home Bargain and B&M stores across the country, after they’d been imported from other countries.

Turkey Twizlers

After Jamie Oliver’s TV show, ‘Jamie’s School Dinners’, exposed just how unhealthy Turkey Twizzlers were in 2005, the company decided to discontinue the product to avoid any further criticism. This follows their ban from school dinners shortly after the episode was aired.

Cadbury’s Dream Bar

One of the most beloved chocolate bars in the UK, Cadbury’s Dream Bar, was taken off the shelves in 2014. Similarly to most other discontinued products, it just wasn’t popular enough and was removed to make way for other Cadbury’s products.

Even so, it is still accessible in a few other nations, such as South Africa and Australia, where demand for it is still high.

Mars Planets

An unsolved mystery, Mars Planets were discontinued in 2007 after only four years on the market. The super-popular sweet snack was removed from the Mars product portfolio for unknown reasons.

It appears that even 15 years later, fans want answers! And more importantly, they want Mars Planets back.
