The Bakewell Tart Shop, owners of the only original Bakewell Tart recipe, has limited numbers of spooky orange iced Bakewell Tarts left for Halloween

The Bakewell Tart Shop, which has been the home of the traditional Bakewell Tart for more than 100 years, has limited numbers of Happy Halloween, Trick or Treat and Spider’s Web Iced Bakewell Tarts left ahead of Halloween this Thursday 31 October.

The Bakewell Tart Shop follows the original century-old recipe that only two people currently have access to. This recipe is the only authentic version.

The seasonal Halloween Bakewell Tarts come topped with spooky orange icing (orange in colour, but not flavour). They will bring a spark of autumn colour to any dining table. They can also be purchased with the traditional white coloured icing.

They can be purchased in-store at 18 Matlock Street, Bakewell, Derbyshire, or online at bakewelltarts.co.uk

The tarts cost £18.65 each.

The Bakewell Tarts are carefully crafted by skilled bakers, using a pastry shell, a layer of raspberry jam, ground almonds, a frangipane mix, and then topped with icing and a cherry. They follow a traditional recipe, using only the finest ingredients. Interestingly, the recipe creates what is called a ‘wet mix’ meaning the tarts are noticeably moister than ones found elsewhere, which tend to be closer to a normal cake in appearance and consistency.

The Bakewell Tart Shop is a family-owned business in the historic market town of Bakewell, in the southern part of the Peak District. The shop delivers Traditional Bakewell Tarts, Iced Cherry Bakewell Tarts, and Bakewell Puddings around the UK (gluten-free and vegan options are also available).

There is also a physical café and shop, which was fully refurbished in 2020. In addition to the Bakewell Tarts and Bakewell Puddings, the Bakewell Tart Shop offers a delicious choice of pies, cakes and freshly baked bread. They stock a selection of local savoury favourites including the Homity Pie, the Huntsman Pie and the Peak Pasty, along with sweet treats, such as Millionaire’s Shortbread, Eccles cakes and homemade scones.
