Blanco Niño, an innovative Irish manufacturer on a mission to accelerate the transition to regenerative farming, has announced the launch of its award-winning tortilla chips into two major UK retailers, Whole Foods and Co-op, this July.

The expansion marks a significant milestone for the brand, providing nationwide shelf coverage for the first time and widely introducing UK consumers to Blanco Niño‘s traditionally made tortilla chips.

This growth into 305 Co-op stores across the UK with their Smoky Chipotle and Chilli & Lime flavours, and into seven Whole Foods stores across London with all five flavours (Lightly Salted, Chilli & Lime, Smoky Chipotle, Blue Corn, and Creamy Jalapeño) will advance the brand’s mission to provide quality Mexican food products of the highest standard to a broader audience whilst redefining the premium snack category in the UK.

Phil Martin, Founder and CEO of Blanco Niño, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with our friends in Whole Foods and Co-op, who have been incredible supporters of our mission. It’s a big milestone for us, and we’re very excited to see people across the UK finally getting access to our traditional tortilla chips, helping us in our mission to accelerate the transition to regenerative farming.”

Blanco Niño was founded by Phil Martin (affectionately known as ‘Blanco Niño’), who grew up on an organic farm in Dublin, Ireland. Driven by a passion for food and frustration at the lack of quality corn tortillas in Europe, Phil embarked on a journey to Mexico to master the art of traditional tortilla making. This journey culminated in the establishment of Blanco Niño in 2015 in Tipperary, Ireland, and the country’s first traditional tortilleria.

Blanco Niño has gone from strength to strength since it was first established. Originally supplying restaurants, bars and hotels in over 16 European markets, they went on to launch into Ireland’s retail sector in 2020 and now make up 6% market share for one of Ireland’s leading retailers in the category.

Producing world-class traditionally made tortillas and tortilla chips using ancient methods and fully recyclable packaging, Blanco Niño‘s product portfolio is gluten-free, vegan-friendly and uses no artificial ingredients.
