The search is on for Britain’s biggest up-and-coming ready-meal development chef!

MJ’s Diner has recently launched its first-to-market range of 16 frozen ready meals specifically developed for the air fryer. The range includes an array of ‘fakeaways’ such as Salt and Pepper Chicken, Katsu Chicken Curry, and Sweet and Sour Chicken, alongside chip-shop favourites such as Fish and Chips, Steak Pie, and Sausages, Chips and Gravy. Products are priced between £1.99 and £2.49 per pack and have fewer calories than ‘ordering in’ – every meal in the range comes in at under 915kcals with the lowest just 531kcals.

Noel Davis, founding director of MJ’s Diner, explains more about the opportunity and how to apply:

“We’re looking for the next air fryer ready meal to add to our range. If you’re a foodie with an ingenious idea and would love to see your name on your very own air fryer ready meal, then we need to hear from you!

“Superior tastebuds, recipe creativity, and an obsession with food are the key attributes of our ideal candidate.”

To enter the competition, please email cat@hoppr.co.uk with your air fryer meal idea. Please include the name of the frozen ready meal you would like to see created, plus suggested ingredients. You’re also welcome to include a recipe if you have one.

MJ’s works with one of the UK’s top sauce manufacturing companies, which can replicate any meat-free sauce recipe, from BBQ to teriyaki, pesto, and spicy chilli, to name but a few. They also have great supplier relationships for almost every meat and vegetable imaginable, so get creative!

Applications are open until 30th June 2024, and the winner will be notified by 12th July 2024.

The MJ Diner’s range, a British first, all cook in less than 20 minutes, with all meal items included in one easy pack. The meals are currently available to buy at hundreds of independent convenience stores, butchers, Farmfoods, Poundland, and many Spar stores nationwide.

Noel concludes:

“The successful ‘development chef’ will not only have their meal named after them and printed on every pack but will also receive a Tower Vision 9 Litre Dual Basket Digital Air Fryer and a month’s supply of MJ’s air fryer meals.

We can’t wait to see what you come up with!”
