Globally acclaimed, World Sake Day on October 1st marks the traditional start date for sake production in Japan; and where better to celebrate than at Danish-Japanese restaurant, Sticks’n’Sushi. With a wealth of experience in Japanese hospitality, certified Sake Sommelier and Head of Bars, Vicky Vecchione, has worked closely with premium breweries and experts to develop a programme of events to honour the occasion.

From beginners through to well-seasoned sake lovers, celebrate the unique Japanese beverage in style and expand your sake knowledge at one of these four unique events, taking place at selected London restaurants throughout October.

Sake Masterclasses for Beginners by Takara

Tuesday 1st October, 7pm – 9pm

Discover the world of sake with an introductory tasting masterclass led by experts at Takara Brewery. Guests will be guided through a tasting of five sakes from their range, including their popular Nigori, and Gokai. Explore the 2,500-year history of the traditional beverage alongside delicious bites from the Sticks’n’Sushi kitchen.

Akashi Tai Sake Supper

Tuesday 15th October, 7pm – 9pm

Indulge an intimate four-course dinner with expertly paired fine sakes, sushi and grilled sticks led by Akashi Tai. Renowned for its true artisan sake, Akashi Tai use the highest quality ingredients, locally produced Yamadanishiki rice (considered as the noblest rice for sake) and spring water from the Akashi region. As the Japanese saying goes, sake and food never fight!

Mio Sparkling Sake & Cocktail Masterclass

Tuesday 22nd October, 7pm – 9pm

Brewing sparkling sake in Japan using traditional ingredients and techniques, experts at Mio teach guests how to make two sparkling sake cocktails – all paired with creative canapés from the Sticks’n’Sushi kitchen. With a soft and delicate sweetness derived from only rice, water, koji and yeast, Mio sparkling sake has been known to top Prosecco for some, as their celebratory tipple.

HEAVENSAKE Cocktail Masterclass

Tuesday 29th October, 7pm – 9pm

Level up your mixology skills as masters at HEAVENSAKE demonstrate three different sakes and exactly how to use them in everyday cocktails, all whilst tucking into expertly paired light bites from Sticks’n’Sushi. Crafted in Japan, HEAVENSAKE is an award-winning sake by French Wine Master Regis Camus, created in collaboration with Japan’s most respected sake breweries.
