Bookings are live for Tropea following an extension, with reservations available from Tuesday 24th September
The popular neighbourhood restaurant will now open for lunch on Fridays
Tropea, one of The Good Food Guide’s Best 100 Local Restaurants 2024, has announced that it will reopen on Tuesday 24th September further to its extension into the premises next door.
The popular neighbourhood restaurant has added 25 more covers in total and will also open for lunch on Fridays. The extension will enable the Tropea team to reserve a number of walk-in tables for regulars and locals and also includes a new bar for guests to sit at and enjoy a drink.
Tropea is the creation of Ben Robinson Young and Kasia Piatkowska, who met whilst studying Culinary Arts at the University College Birmingham in 2010. Inspired by a picturesque town on the Calabrian coast, Tropea’s (pronounced Tro-Pey-Ah) menu is heavily influenced by regional dishes made throughout Italy, with much of the produce sourced from the country.
Thanks to the extension, the kitchen space has doubled in size, allowing for new kitchen equipment that will enhance the Tropea experience. The new menu will showcase dishes such as Beef carpaccio, Sicilian Arancino with butternut squash, Sardines ‘in soar’ on crostini and Sardinian fregola pasta with chilli and native mussels.
Ben and Kasia, owners of Tropea, said, “As a true neighbourhood restaurant, we are so excited to reopen our doors for friends of Tropea and introduce new faces to the refreshed space.
Tropea will remain an intimate and cosy restaurant with the extension allowing us to offer more variety in seating options. Now that we’re able to offer walk-ins and last-minute reservations, there will always be a spot for regular locals to visit for their favourite dish or a try something new, whether in the new bar area or in the restaurant.”
